Happy Anniversary Mr. Shi

Last Friday 8 August there was the 6 anniversary of my favorite chinese restaurant in Beijing, Mr. Shi's dumplings.

Since opening its doors on August 8, 2008 (8 is a lucky number in China) Mr. Shi's dumplings has been serving one of China's most famous foods, dumplings, in Baochao Hutong.

Mr. Shi is also the owner (on the logo there is also his face), he choose a very good location, in a hutong where chinese people and western people come very often especially on the weekend and he used two ingredients that aren't present usually in chinese traditional cuisine: cheese and basil.

There are the traditional boiled dumplings and there is the fried version that is very delicious and also on the menu there are the typical traditional chinese plate like fried eggplant and tofu, but he "westernalizied" them so in this way the foreign clients can appreciate chinese cuisine but in a light and healthy way, not too oil, not too chilli, not too garlic.

Besides the fantastic foods, he is a very good business man and he can also speak English, that is a surprise in China, where most of the people can't speak English.
Also Mr. Shi usually ask to his clients to draw a paint or leave a message on the wall about their home country, so his restaurant become a sort of international advertisement for whom come randomly to his place.

Here all the info and the address both in English and in Chinese:

Happy (Chinese) S.Valentine to you.

San Valentino in Cina?

Buon San Valentino a tutti!!!

San Valentine in China? They celebrate on the 2nd of August.

Even if we celebrate it during the winter and they celebrate during the summer, Chinese couple are doing the same things that all the world's couple are doing on San Valentine day: romantic dinner, flowers, presents and chocolate, everything of course in red passion colour.

Happy San Valentine everyone.
